About Anne
My passion for literacy started when I learned how to read as a child. It opened up my world as I spent many hours reading book after book, getting lost in the pages and my imagination. This led me to become what was a natural fit for me — a teacher. My career has been an incredible journey with almost half a century in the field. I’ve taught countless students in multiple states and trained teachers at all levels. The most significant thing I have gained in my work is a deeper understanding of the learning process and the crucial role literacy plays in our educational system.
Today, I am a professional education consultant and coach, specializing in literacy — the foundation of all learning. Speaking, listening, writing, and reading are the core skills of literacy. Without them, success in education and life is significantly diminished. My role is to collaborate with school programs and institutions as a leader to achieve effective, lasting results in literacy, including student and teacher training. I employ a process-oriented approach that tracks real data over time, yielding a successful vision for students and faculty that evolves and adapts throughout the process.
Improving literacy is truly a process that starts with developing a literacy curriculum for your program. Programs are designed to address a wide range of students who are reading below their reading level. In one case, we selected novels that would create engaging whole-class discussions supplemented by coaching for the educators. This led to a 90% increase in student engagement, completely transforming the classroom and students' literacy skills. Numbers like this are always my goal, whether I’m working with students or teachers in a K-12 classroom, aspiring teachers in the collegiate environment, or corporate professionals developing curricula for education.
Literacy education is my passion and life’s work. It’s a fun and engaging process worth investing in for the betterment of our students, teachers, and society as a whole. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss how we can work together to benefit your literacy curriculum.
